Introduction:

Dingshan Bridge spans Meihu Lake in Qingyunpu. It is 16 meters long and 3.1 meters wide, featuring three arches and two piers, all constructed from granite, giving it a simple, classic, and elegant appearance. There are 11 railing posts on each side of the bridge deck, with two spiral patterns carved on the tops of the posts as decoration. Ten railing panels are set between them, and beneath the panels are an equal number of bridge deck protective stones. Some of these protective stones are drilled with drainage holes to allow water accumulated on the bridge to flow into the lake through the holes. The railing posts at both ends of the bridge are supported by cloud-shaped stone drums, and the bridge deck is paved with granite slabs.

Dingshan Bridge was funded and built in September of the 25th year of the Kangxi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1686 AD) by Zhou Hongqian and Peng Qingyuan, both Quanzhen Taoists from the Qingyunpu Taoist Temple. It is an important auxiliary structure of the Qingyunpu Taoist Temple and also a vital transportation link connecting the two sides of Meihu Lake. Originally, it was an integral part of the official southern horse road of Nanchang City. Today, it serves as the only vehicle and pedestrian access connecting the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou Memorial Hall (Qingyunpu) with the outside world.
