Cheng Yunxian Sculpture Art Museum

The Cheng Yunxian Sculpture Art Museum is situated on the southern shore of Meihu Lake in Qingyunpu District, Nanchang. It is the crowning touch of the recently developed Meihu Scenic Area and serves to exhibit contemporary sculpture art, promote patriotism, and facilitate cultural exchanges in sculpture between China and other countries. A blend of Huizhou architectural style and rich modern elements, the museum also functions as a hub for research and exhibitions. Facing the Bashan Ancestral Hall across the lake, together they form the tourism and cultural center of the Meihu area.

The Cheng Yunxian Sculpture Art Museum officially commenced operations on November 1, 2006, and was completed in September 2007. The museum consists of two sections: the “Cheng Yunxian Sculpture Exhibition Room” and the “Chinese and Foreign Masters Sculpture Exhibition Room,” with a total construction area of approximately 4,000 square meters. The “Cheng Yunxian Sculpture Exhibition Room” houses 100 exquisite sculptures by Mr. Cheng Yunxian, while the “Chinese and Foreign Masters Sculpture Exhibition Room” features masterpieces by over 40 renowned contemporary sculptors from both China and abroad, spanning different generations. The displayed works are rich in content and diverse in style.

Through this unique artistic medium, the sculptors vividly convey the spirit of the times, cultural depth, and humanistic characteristics, demonstrating the creative prowess and vibrant spirit of contemporary sculptors from China and around the world. Following its inauguration, the exhibition space will continue to acquire more outstanding sculptures by masters, establishing itself as a platform for artistic exchange and dissemination both nationally and internationally, and bringing sculpture into a new realm of broad social attention and artistic discourse. The museum displays nearly 100 vivid portrait sculptures, including those of leaders such as Sun Yat-sen, Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Deng Xiaoping, and Peng Dehuai, as well as notable figures from various fields such as Lu Xun, Zhang Daqian, and Liu Kaiqu. The “Cheng Yunxian Sculpture Art Museum” is currently the only large-scale comprehensive military history museum in China.
