Chen Yun's Former Residence and Workshop

Chen Yun's Former Residence and Workshop is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

The Exhibition Hall of Chen Yun's Former Residence is located on Yingbin North Avenue in Qingyunpu District, Nanchang City. The building has a rectangular floor plan, faces south, and covers an area of 298 square meters. From November 1969 to April 1972, Chen Yun was sent down to Jiangxi and worked here. This was the former site of the Jiangxi Chemical Petroleum Machinery Factory.

On October 20, 1969, Chen Yun and several other veteran proletarian revolutionaries left Beijing and were forced to be “evacuated” to Jiangxi. Chen Yun, accompanied by his secretary Xiao Huaguang, bodyguard Li Qi, and chef Lao Wang, arrived in Nanchang on the 22nd. To address Chen Yun’s transportation needs in Jiangxi, the Jiangxi Revolutionary Committee provided him with a dilapidated Warsaw-brand sedan and a driver.

In Nanchang, Chen Yun’s “work” involved being stationed at the Jiangxi Chemical Petroleum Machinery Factory, which is adjacent to the north of the Qingyunpu Cadre Sanatorium. Chen Yun instructed local cadres that production must be developed, as only through increased production could people’s living standards be improved.

In March 2018, it was announced as part of the sixth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units in Jiangxi Province.
