Former Site of Zhoutian Prison

The former site of Zhoutian Prison is located in Zhucun Village, Maojialing Township, Xinzhou District. In March 1941, when the Shangrao Concentration Camp was first established in Zhoutian, it operated under the guise of a "military and political training institution." It consisted of two main parts, referred to as the "Officers' Battalion" and the "Special Training Class," which were specifically used to imprison officers of the rank of platoon leader and above from the New Fourth Army who had been captured during the Southern Anhui Incident, as well as over 700 Communists, patriotic progressives, and other individuals who were arrested from various local areas across southeastern provinces. The former prison site at the Zhoutian headquarters includes: the sites of various battalions, the auditorium, the drill ground, the site of the "Special Training Class," the site of the battalion headquarters, and the site of the prison cells for the "Seven Gentlemen." Under the leadership of the secret Party organization, the revolutionary prisoners in the camp engaged in courageous, tenacious, and unyielding struggles against their captors, writing moving and heroic chapters in the history of resistance.
