The residential building at No. 17 Xiangfu Road is a Jiangxi Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The residential building at No. 17 Xiangfu Road is located at No. 17 Xiangfu Road, Xinzhou District, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. It was designated as a Shangrao Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit in 1985 and as a Jiangxi Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit in 2006.

This residence was the former home of Yang Yitai, a paper merchant from Huating, Shangrao, built between 1922 and 1933. It was later destroyed by fire and subsequently completed by his son.

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the building was taken over by the government, later allocated for residential use by ordinary families, and also served as office space for government departments. After 1999, it was handed over to the management of the Xinzhou District Museum. It is currently undergoing comprehensive renovation and is planned to be developed into a folk museum.

The entire structure faces south. Due to changes over time, what was originally the back door on the north side, adjacent to Xiangfu Road, has become the front entrance, while the main gate on the south side has been blocked by later-built residences, leaving only a narrow alley about one meter wide outside the door. The building covers a total area of 2,232 square meters, features a brick-and-wood structure, follows a central axis with symmetrical layout, and consists of three courtyards with two interior gardens. Its most distinctive feature is the exquisite wood carvings on beams and windows, some of which are gilded.
