Bronze Bell of Jiying Temple

The Bronze Bell of Jiying Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

The Bronze Bell of Jiying Temple, also known as the Bronze Bell of Tianning Temple, is currently housed in Shangrao's Dongyue Temple. The bell is cylindrical in shape, standing 283 cm tall, with a diameter of 170 cm and a thickness of 12 cm, weighing 4.12 tons. Its top is adorned with a double-dragon decorative suspension loop, while the lower part flares outward, with an inverted lotus petal design at the base rim. The entire surface is inscribed with texts, along with the surnames of donors and details of their contributions. It was originally cast during the Five Dynasties period by Zhou Ben, the governor of Xinzhou, and initially weighed 2,400 jin (approximately 1.2 metric tons). In the first year of the Jianyan era of the Song Dynasty (1127 AD), it was recast by the local community leader Liu Neng and others, increasing its weight to over 10,000 jin. In 1964, it was designated as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province.
