Shidu Wang Family Mansion is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Shidu Wang Family Mansion is located in Shidu Village, Songfeng Township, Guangfeng District, Shangrao City, Jiangxi Province. It was built in the 34th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1769) as the residence of Wang Jixian, a wealthy local paper merchant.

Shidu Wang Family Mansion is the largest surviving ancient residential building in Jiangxi. The mansion is grand in scale and features an intact layout; its planning is scientific, with a clear hierarchy of spaces and well-defined functions. Surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing water on one, the mansion benefits from a natural barrier that protects against both natural disasters and bandits—commonly referred to as being “embraced by a golden belt.” This location aligns with the social environment of the time and reflects scientific site selection.

The Shidu Wang Family Mansion is exquisitely decorated and showcases exquisite craftsmanship, making it an outstanding representative of Qing Dynasty residential architecture in the Jiangnan region. Its decorations, paintings, and carvings feature rich content, and the stonework and woodwork demonstrate exceptional artistry, holding significant artistic value.

Located in northeastern Jiangxi at the border between Jiangxi and Zhejiang, the mansion fully exhibits the convergence and integration of architectural cultures from both regions. Both the beam structures, fine woodwork, and carving techniques reflect mutual influences between Zhejiang and Jiangxi architectural styles, forming a typical characteristic of the Wang Family Mansion. It also displays a unique architectural style among Qing Dynasty residences in northeastern Jiangxi.

Having stood for over two hundred years, the Shidu Wang Family Mansion remains largely intact with clear boundaries. It is one of the largest surviving Qing Dynasty residences in Jiangxi and is also rare in southern China. It holds high cultural relics value and serves as a precious example for studying the construction techniques of Qing Dynasty residences in Jiangxi and even southern China. It also fills a gap in the national-level display of large-scale residential cultural relics in Jiangxi.

On October 7, 2019, Shidu Wang Family Mansion was included in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
