Former Residence of Xiong Xiong

The former residence of Xiong Xiong is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

The former residence of Xiong Xiong is located in Xiawu Village, Fangxi Town, Yifeng County. It is a brick-and-wood residential building featuring architectural characteristics of the Qing Dynasty. The main house has a depth of one block with one sleeping quarters, consisting of six panels and five rooms. On both sides of the sleeping hall are small courtyards and side rooms, surrounded by high brick walls designed to contain flames, with passageways and auxiliary rooms on either side. Revolutionary martyr Xiong Xiong was born here and spent his childhood. Behind the main house is the “Peilan Study Room,” a wooden structure with five panels and four rooms, where Xiong Xiong studied and practiced martial arts during his youth.

Xiong Xiong (1892–1927). Among the many revolutionary martyrs in Yifeng, Xiong Xiong stands out as an outstanding leader of the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries in China and one of the earliest figures in our Party to engage in political work within the revolutionary army. In August 1984, Marshal Nie Rongzhen personally inscribed the banner “The Martyr Xiong Xiong Lives Forever in Our Hearts” in tribute to his illustrious life.
