Former Site of the Red 16th Army Command in Gangkou

The Former Site of the Red 16th Army Command in Gangkou is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiangxi Province.

Xiaoshui Village in CheShang Forest Farm is located 43 kilometers northwest of Yifeng, covering an area of 5.77 square kilometers with a built-up village area of 32,000 square meters. Its main industries are forestry and specialty agriculture. The arable land spans 1,086 mu, forested areas cover 5,200 mu, and bamboo forests occupy 4,100 mu, with a forest coverage rate exceeding 96%.

The Former Site of the Red 16th Army Command in Gangkou, also the former command post of the Red 16th Army during the Gangkou Battle against the enemy and the site of the Red Army hospital, is situated 13 kilometers north of the town in Xiaoshui Village, CheShang Forest Farm. Following the first counter-encirclement campaign, in February 1931, the Red 16th Army led by Peng Dehuai launched the famous “Gangkou Enemy-Annihilation Battle” in CheShang, achieving a resounding victory by completely annihilating one battalion of the Kuomintang forces. The Da Fu Di building served as the encampment for the Red 16th Army and functioned both as the overall command post for the Gangkou battle and as a Red Army hospital.
