Gaoshi Mountain

Gaoshi Mountain is located in Niutian Village, Aonan Township, southeastern Yongxin. It was the earliest departure point of the Red Army's Long March. Comrade Mao Zedong once said, "The Sixth Red Army Corps was the vanguard and advance force of the Long March."

Originally named Minggu Mountain, Gaoshi Mountain is a Taoist mountain with a history of over a thousand years. Before the Song Dynasty, there was a Minggu Altar Hermitage on the mountain, which was renovated through various dynasties. During the Northern Song Dynasty, the famous poet Huang Tingjian, who served as the magistrate of Taihe County, visited the Confucian scholar Yin Anren on Gaoshi Mountain. They drank wine and composed poetry together, leaving behind the verse “The mountain is eminent and elegant, its fame spreads because of the scholars,” after which Minggu Mountain was renamed Gaoshi Mountain.

Gaoshi Mountain now features sites such as the former offices of the Hunan-Jiangxi Provincial Committee, as well as the Heavenly Master Hall, the God of Wealth Hall, the Wenchang Hall, the Doumu Hall, the Jade Emperor Hall, the Guanyin Hall, the Anren Study Site, the Ancestral Master Temple, the Fairy Cave, Hezi Spring, the Demon-Suppressing Stone, and the Stone Heavenly Gate.
