May 23rd marks the 61st anniversary of the peaceful liberation of Tibet. Accompanied by the enchanting sounds of Tibetan ethnic songs and dances, the press conference for “I Have a Date with Shannan” ― the 2012 China Tibet Yarlung Culture Festival ― was grandly held in the Beijing Hall of the Great Hall of the People, kicking off the 2012 China Tibet Yarlung Culture Festival.
The 2012 China Tibet Yarlung Culture Festival, under the support and guidance of the Publicity Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region Party Committee, the Culture Department, and the Tourism Bureau, and with strong assistance from the Tibet Aid Offices of Hunan, Hubei, and Anhui provinces, is hosted by the CCP Shannan Prefectural Committee and the Shannan Prefectural Government of Tibet. It is jointly organized by the Shannan Prefectural Culture Bureau, Tourism Bureau, counties in the region, and the Beijing Saidian Cultural Communication Center. The aim is to create a cultural tourism brand themed “Source of Tibet · Bond with Tibet,” and to present a rich cultural, tourism, and economic feast featuring artistic performances, cultural exchanges, tourism sightseeing, and economic cooperation, showcasing the long and splendid traditional culture of the Tibetan people to the world.
