Sanwan National Forest Park

Sanwan National Forest Park is a national-level forest park.

Covering a total area of 230,000 mu, Sanwan National Forest Park has a forest coverage rate of 90.5%. It is home to 22 species of nationally protected trees and dozens of wild animal species. Before the 1970s, South China tigers also inhabited this area. The abundant biodiversity has led many scientific researchers who visit here to sincerely praise it as a natural botanical garden and an open-air species repository.

　A national forest park, a national patriotic education base, and a classic red tourism destination in China. Located in Sanwan Township, Yongxin County, it is 133 kilometers from downtown Ji’an. In September 1927, after arriving here with the troops of the Autumn Harvest Uprising on the Hunan-Jiangxi border, Mao Zedong carried out a reorganization of the forces — the famous “Sanwan Reorganization” in the history of the Party and the military. The Sanwan Reorganization established the Party’s absolute leadership over the army, created a new type of relationship between officers and soldiers, marked the rebirth of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Revolutionary Army, and holds profound and great significance in the history of our military’s establishment. The scenic area currently features four national key cultural relics protection units: the former residence of Comrade Mao Zedong, the site of the headquarters of the First Regiment of the First Army of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Revolutionary Army, the site of the Soldiers’ Committee, and the Fengshuping site, as well as attractions such as the site of the military-civilian assembly, the site of the Red Army training ground, and the Sanwan Reorganization Memorial Hall.
