Xiangtang Temple

Xiangtang Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Xiangtang Temple Grottoes are located in the Xinshi District of Handan City, Hebei Province. They were initially built during the Northern Qi Dynasty, and were expanded and renovated in subsequent dynasties including Sui, Tang, Song, Yuan, and Ming. The Xiangtang Temple is divided into northern and southern caves, 15 kilometers apart, comprising a total of 16 grottoes with around 3,400 statues of various sizes. The stone carvings inside the caves are exquisitely crafted and ingeniously designed. The auxiliary structures are grand in scale, with halls, pavilions, and towers built along the mountainside, majestic and spectacular. They represent a precious heritage of ancient Chinese architecture, sculpture, calligraphy, and painting.
