The Dehua Ceramics Museum is designated as a science education base.

The Dehua County Ceramics Museum is the first comprehensive and well-documented ceramics specialty museum in Fujian Province, serving as an important platform for Dehua County to promote ceramic culture, showcase exquisite ceramic craftsmanship, and highlight its long-standing ceramic history.

The Dehua County Ceramics Museum is located at No. 17 Xuefu Road, Xunzhong Town, Dehua County, adjacent to Quanzhou Arts and Crafts Vocational College. It covers an area of 50 acres, with the main building spanning 5,700 square meters. The structure is a two-story, frame-style antique building that houses six exhibition halls, as well as an academic lecture hall, resource room, storage area, and monitoring room. Construction of the building began in October 2003 and was completed and opened to the public in October 2006.

The museum’s first-floor lobby features a 13-meter-long, 2.6-meter-high high-relief mural made from 520 pieces of Dehua white porcelain. The museum’s first floor has three permanent exhibition halls displaying "The History of Dehua Ceramics," covering an area of 1,400 square meters. The exhibition primarily showcases physical artifacts, supplemented by images, models, and dioramas, with over 1,000 pieces on display. The display follows a historical timeline and systematically presents the development and remarkable achievements of Dehua ceramics from ancient to modern times. It is divided into seven sections: "Land and Clay Ideal for Ceramics, Millennia of Kiln Traditions," "Song and Yuan Ceramics, Emerging Prominently," "Ming Dynasty White Porcelain, Standing Out Uniquely," "Qing Dynasty Blue-and-White Porcelain, Poetic and Pictorial," "Maritime Silk Road Ceramics, Renowned Worldwide," "Republic-Era Ceramics, Continuing Traditions," and "Pearls of the Ceramic World, A Myriad in Bloom." The exhibition fully demonstrates the production techniques, artistic characteristics, trade status, and cultural significance of Dehua ceramics, highlighting the historical importance and role of the Dehua kilns, as well as reflecting the diligence, wisdom, and innovative spirit of the people of the Ceramic Capital.

Starting March 31, 2008, our museum has been open to the public free of charge. In May 2009, it was rated as a “National Second-Class Museum” by the National Cultural Heritage Administration. In December 2009, it was designated as a “National Science Education Base” by the China Association for Science and Technology.

Xunzhong Town: Xunzhong Town is located in the southern part of Dehua County and is the seat of the Dehua County People's Government. It serves as the political, economic, and cultural center of the county. To the south, it faces Longxun Town across the Sanchuan River; to the southeast, it connects with Sanban Town; to the east, it borders Longmen Tan Town; to the north, it adjoins Guobao Township; to the northeast, it lies close to Leifeng Town; and to the west, it neighbors Gaide Township. The town has nine village committees, two neighborhood committees, 92 villager groups, and 11 resident groups, with a total population of 28,829, all of whom are Han Chinese.
