The Dai Xian Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area is a national-level water conservancy scenic area.

The Dai Xian Lake National Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located in the towns of Shuikou and Nancheng in the eastern part of Dehua County, covering a total area of 35 square kilometers. The scenic area centers around the streams of Shuikou and Nancheng, connecting four zones—Dai Xian Lake Leisure Area (Yongkou Reservoir), Dai Xian Waterfall Sightseeing Area, Rafting Adventure Area, and Hot Spring Resort Area—into a unified landscape along the "one waterway leading to four zones" concept. The four zones are closely connected, with resources that complement one another, forming a comprehensive water conservancy scenic area that features the tranquility of the lake, the grandeur of the waterfall, the adventure of the stream, and the uniqueness of the hot spring.

With its unique natural landscape and profound cultural heritage, the Dai Xian Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area has been designated as a National Water Conservancy Scenic Area by the Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of Water Resources. It is the only site in our province to receive this honor in this evaluation round and marks another "national-level" achievement for Dehua, following the recognition of its “one zone and two parks” as national ecological brands.

The Dai Xian Lake Leisure Area is located in the center of Shuikou Town, Dehua County, where the reservoir meets the mountain scenery, blending natural and cultural resources. Attractions such as Chuan Dao Shan (Boat Island Mountain), Xia Shi Shan (Lower Lion Mountain), Bei Yao Li Inner Lake, Da Yun Shan Inner Lake, Hu Lu Keng Inner Lake, and Hu Wei Shan farmland add endless charm to the natural landscape of Dai Xian Lake. Cultural sites like Long Shan Gong (Dragon Mountain Temple), Wu Shi Ting (Leisure Pavilion), the Martyrs’ Memorial Monument, and the ancient ferry stone tablet further enrich the area’s cultural value. Traveling upstream along the Chi Shi Stream leads to the Dai Xian Waterfall Sightseeing Area, where visitors can admire the “No.1 Waterfall in East China”—the majestic twin falls of Dai Xian. In the Rafting Adventure Area and Hot Spring Resort Area within Nancheng Town, visitors can opt for the thrilling rubber rafting experience on the Shi Long Stream, enjoy a relaxing bamboo raft ride down the Tao Xian Stream, or unwind at the comfortable and soothing Tangkeng Hot Springs.

Currently, Dehua County is gradually improving transportation infrastructure and upgrading basic service facilities within the Dai Xian Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area. Construction of the second-class highway section from Chengguan to Shuikou along Provincial Highway 203, specifically the Leifeng segment, commenced earlier this year. The Dai Xian Waterfall Visitor Reception Center, hotels, and a geological museum are also under active construction, with the main structures expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Through the development of the Dai Xian Lake Water Conservancy Scenic Area, the living environments of surrounding urban and rural areas have been significantly improved, creating a scene of clear waters, green banks, beautiful scenery, and harmonious culture. It has become an ideal destination for leisure and tourism. The area’s rich array of cultural and natural attractions has become a highlight for local economic development, environmental improvement, and tourism promotion. This not only helps ensure the safety of the Dai Xian Lake water conservancy project and enhances the living environment, but also drives the growth of a wide range of related industries, generates numerous job opportunities, raises the living standards of local residents, and stimulates the development of new rural areas and regional economies.

Relying on the Dai Xian Lake Scenic Area, a comprehensive attraction is gradually taking shape and being refined—one that highlights aquatic landscapes as its core, supported by rural water town scenery, and distinguished by waterfall and hot spring features. This will not only create another premium tourism product for Dehua County, but also provide strong momentum for the economic development of mountainous regions.
