Yongge Bridge

Yongge Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

Yongge Bridge is located in Zengban Village, Shangyong Town, Dehua County, dating back to the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China period.

Description: Also known as Camellia Bridge or Yongshou Bridge, it was built in the 12th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1774). The bridge runs from north to south, with its covered corridor featuring a mixed post-and-lintel and mortise-and-tenon wooden frame structure, and a double-slope suspended gable roof. The piers are constructed of granite, and the original bridge deck consisted of five connected wooden planks, measuring over 30 meters in length, which were often washed away by floods. In 1948, local residents raised funds and invited master craftsmen to design and construct the bridge. The design was based on the style of covered bridges in Shouning County. The completed bridge is 26.95 meters long, 3.82 meters wide, with a bridge body height of 6.5 meters and an arch span of 19.15 meters. Stone steps at both ends connect to village roads. The arch frame is formed by interlocking vertical and horizontal fir poles, with no rivets used anywhere in the bridge. A pavilion is erected on the bridge, and the two sides of the bridge body are equipped with double-layer awnings and wooden benches inside.

In 2018, Yongge Bridge was announced by the People's Government of Fujian Province as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units.

Zengban Village: Zengban Village is located in the northeastern part of Shangyong Township, about 13 kilometers from the township government seat. It borders Xiayong Village to the south, Hutou Village of Gekeng Township to the northeast, Caocun Village of Tangtou Township to the northwest, and Guiyang Village of Guiyang Township to the southeast. The village covers a total land area of 10.12 square kilometers, with cultivated land spanning 702 mu, including 630 mu of paddy fields and 72 mu of dry land. The forested area amounts to 10,904 mu, including 432 mu of bamboo forest. The village consists of three natural hamlets—Zengban, Dangyang, and Camellia—and seven villager groups. In 1999, the village had a total of 320 households and 1,189 residents.
