Tonghuai Guan Yue Temple is located on Tumen Street in Licheng District and is one of the famous ancient sites in Quanzhou’s old city dedicated to the worship of both civil (Confucius) and martial (Guan Yu) saints. The main hall enshrines Guan Han Tinghou (Lord Guan) and Yue Zhongwu King (Yue Fei), along with 24 revered loyal and brave generals from various dynasties. To the left is the Sanyi Temple, which honors Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei, with Zhuge Liang and Zhao Yun as secondary deities, while the right side features the Chongguang Xian Hall, dedicated to three generations of Guan Yu’s ancestors. The temple houses important cultural relics such as Zhu Xi’s Song Dynasty plaque “Righteous Qi” and Zhang Ruitu’s Ming Dynasty plaque “Filling Heaven and Earth.”
