Tumen Street

Tumen Street, also known as "Tumen Jie," got its name from the legend that it was used to store and transport earth and stones for the construction of the East and West Pagodas. Located in the central area of Quanzhou City, it stretches 1,005 meters from Wenling Road in the east to Zhongshan Road in the west. It is a bustling district that integrates commerce, tourism, and culture.

On this street, which is just over 1,000 meters long, there are numerous cultural relics related to the Maritime Silk Road, including 13 cultural heritage sites from the Song and Yuan dynasties—such as the Qingjing Mosque, Confucius Temple, Tonghuai Guan Yue Temple, Dongguan Xitai, Zulu Su, Shijia Dacuo, Qipan Garden, Donglu Alley, and Thirty-two Alleys.

The architectural style of Tumen Street reflects to some extent the prosperity of Quanzhou during the Song and Yuan dynasties. The renovated Tumen Street retains the essence of traditional Minnan architecture in Quanzhou while organically integrating with modern buildings. It is one of the most commercially vibrant and bustling streets in Quanzhou, and has been selected as one of the first national “Shopping Assurance Streets.”
