• The Quanzhou Bell Tower is a standard clock tower built in 1934 when the intersection of East-West Street was constructed, featuring a European style.

Introduction

There are currently three bell towers in Quanzhou. The oldest one is the West Street Bell Tower built in 1934, which is also the default bell tower in the hearts of Quanzhou residents. The other two were built in more recent modern times.

The Quanzhou Bell Tower is a standard clock tower built in 1934 when the intersection of East-West Street was constructed and was completed the following year. The tower stands 13.8 meters tall and was designed by a British-trained architect, featuring a European style. The Quanzhou Bell Tower, along with the East and West Pagodas and the Gonglou (Drum Tower), forms a unique scenic view of the ancient city, attracting tourists from both home and abroad. Currently, the original mechanical clock has been replaced with a quartz clock, and the tower is also equipped with festive lighting, casting a new brilliance at night that makes it even more dazzling.
