Sunjiang Park

Sunjiang Park was built in 2008 with investment from the Licheng District Government of Quanzhou. It is divided into two main scenic areas — a square area and a sightseeing area — covering an area of 400 acres. The park is located at the intersection of Jiangbin Road and Sunjiang Bridge in Licheng District, within the flood discharge zone outside the Xinmen Sluice on the lower reaches of the Jinjiang River. It stretches from the flood control embankment in the east to the Jinjiang Riverbank in the west, borders Fengze District in the north, and extends to Sunjiang Road (connected to Sunjiang Bridge), forming a visual counterpart with Shisun Park across Sunjiang Road.

Sunjiang Park consists of a main square and a central axis square. The main square covers an area of approximately 20,000 square meters and features a large stone sculpture group of the traditional Quanzhou folk dance “Patting the Chest,” a stone archway in the style of ancient Minnan architecture, a musical fountain, and various garden ornaments. The sightseeing area includes pedestrian walkways, an artificial lake, stone arch bridges, landscape ornaments, and green landscaping. The park connects with the city’s Xinmen Boutique Street, Jiangbin Book Wholesale Market, Walmart, and other commercial areas, enhancing urban aesthetics, attracting visitors, and boosting economic vitality in the Xinmen Street, Jiangbin Road, Fuqiao, and old city commercial districts.
