Ruins of Ouyang Zhan’s Former Residence

The ruins of Ouyang Zhan’s former residence is a cultural tourism attraction.

The site of Ouyang Zhan’s former residence, located at No. 95 Jiadi Lane in the city center, is now a temple. A sign reading “Management Committee of the Ouyang Zhan Former Residence Exhibition Hall” hangs at the entrance. Local district officials and Quanzhou cultural history experts have confirmed that this is not the actual former residence of Ouyang Zhan — his home no longer exists — and that the actual site is now the dormitory area of Yuanyi Hall.

A few years ago, someone rented the third floor of the temple to set up an “Exhibition Hall of Ouyang Zhan.” To make it convenient for visitors, they hung a sign that read “Management Committee of the Ouyang Zhan Former Residence Exhibition Hall.” Later, when the exhibition hall moved out, the sign was left behind.

Ouyang Zhan’s former residence was situated in Jiadi Lane and was a three-section, four-room “handkerchief-style” house. However, in the early 1950s, the home of this notable figure disappeared. Later, the relevant authorities erected a stone tablet in Jiadi Lane to commemorate Ouyang Zhan.
