Huangyang Pass

Huangyang Pass is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Huangyang Pass is located in Changling Village, Kengdi Township, Shouning County, dating back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Introduction: It was first built in the mid-Hongzhi era of the Ming Dynasty (1490–1500), and a boundary marker between Fujian and Zhejiang provinces was erected here in the 24th year of the Jiajing era (1545). The pass wall runs from east to west, connecting with small hills on both sides; the lower part of the pass gate is built with a foundation of rough stones, while the upper part features ashlar blocks laid in alternating courses with arches. The arch is 3 meters wide, 2.9 meters high, and 6.3 meters deep; stone benches are placed along both sides of the passage, and a niche is built into the northern stone wall. The boundary stele is now housed in the county museum. It is 1.4 meters high, 0.68 meters wide, and 0.15 meters thick, made of plain bluestone. The front is inscribed with “Shouning County Boundary,” and the back reads “Huangyang Pass.”

Protected area: A 30-meter buffer zone extends outward from all sides of the pass entrance.

In 2018, Huangyang Pass was designated as a ninth-batch provincial-level cultural heritage site by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.
