Cheling Ancient Road

Cheling Ancient Road is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Cheling Ancient Road is located in Xietan Village, Xietan Town, and Yangwei Village, Qingyuan Township, Shouning County, dating from the Ming to the Qing dynasties.

Description: Formed in the mid-Ming Dynasty and maintained through successive dynasties until the Qing, it was an important ancient official route connecting Shouning to Funing Prefecture. The road winds up from Xietan, with a relative elevation difference of 658 meters and a total length of about 10 kilometers. The mountain path is paved with stones following the terrain, 1 to 2 meters wide, and along the way there are multiple road shelters, cliff inscriptions, and passes, mainly including Cheling Pass, One Shelter, the “Steep Ridge, Deep Clouds” stone inscription, Two Shelter, Three Shelter, the ruins of Four Shelter, the ruins of Five Shelter, the “In Memory” stone inscription, Pingfen Pass, and Longfeng Shelter.

Protected area: An extension of 30 meters outward in all directions around the ancient road.

In 2018, Cheling Ancient Road was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People's Government of Fujian Province.
