The Former Sites of the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Jia坑, Border Region of Fujian and Zhejiang, are designated as a cultural heritage conservation unit of Fujian Province.

The Former Sites of the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Jia坑, Border Region of Fujian and Zhejiang, are located in Jia坑 Village, Xixi Town, Shouning County, dating back to 1935.

Description: The complex consists of seven sites, including the former site and memorial monument of the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Region, the former site of the Rear Office of the Mindong Special Committee, the former site of the Soviet Government, the former site and memorial monument of the Fushou Office of the Mindong Special Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the former site of the Revolutionary Committee of ShouTai County of the Communist Party of China. In June 1933, villages across the Ganglong area successively established Soviet governments, with the Jia坑 Soviet Government located at Yangtoucuo in Zhengjiakeng and chaired by Ye Jiangzhi. In the summer of 1935, the Communist Party of China’s Fushou County Committee expanded its central county committee in Jia坑 and simultaneously restored the Fushou Soviet Government. In May 1935, after the establishment of the Fushou Office, it directly guided and promoted various tasks in the Ganglong area, enabling rapid development of the Party organization there. A group of activists was cultivated, who closely united around the Party to form the core of the struggle in Ganglong. On August 1935, the ShouTai County Committee of the Communist Party of China was established in Zhengjiakeng, Shouning County. The ShouTai County Committee was successively under the jurisdiction of the Fushou Office of the Mindong Special Committee and the Fushou Central County Committee. It administered three district committees—Tai Dong, Tai Cheng, and Tai Nan—four party branches, and a total of 61 party members. The secretaries were Wang Taosheng and Miao Hongji. On October 5, 1935, the Mindong Special Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Independent Division of the Mindong Red Army, and the Advancing Division of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army successfully joined forces in Zhengjiakeng, Shouning County. Leaders from both sides held a joint meeting and established the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Region on October 7. The committee had 11 members, with Liu Ying as secretary (also serving as political commissar of the provincial military region), Su Yu as head of organization (also commander of the provincial military region), and Ye Fei as head of propaganda (also secretary of the provincial youth league committee). The establishment of the provisional provincial committee had significant historical importance in thwarting the strategic conspiracy of the Kuomintang authorities to encircle and suppress the four provinces of Fujian, Zhejiang, Anhui, and Jiangxi, strengthening the unified leadership of the Party in the Fujian-Zhejiang border region, and advancing guerrilla warfare.

In 2018, the Former Sites of the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Jia坑, Border Region of Fujian and Zhejiang, were announced by the People’s Government of Fujian Province as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage conservation units.

Protected Area: For the Monument Commemorating the Founding of the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Region and the Memorial Monument of the Fushou Office of the Mindong Special Committee of the Communist Party of China: the boundary extends 10 meters outward from the perimeter walls of the monuments. For other sites: the protected area extends 20 meters outward from the perimeter of each site.
