The Fuyao Islands Scenic Area, located 3.56 nautical miles from Taimu Mountain, is one of the five major scenic areas of Taimu Mountain. It consists of 11 islands—including Dayushan, Xiaoshushan, Yuanyang Island, Yin Yu, Niao Yu, and Guanyin Reef—and 9 reefs, covering a total area of 24.5 square kilometers. With a pleasant climate and stunning scenery, the islands were historically known as the Fuyao Islands, likened to a blessed land of beautiful jade.

Yushan Island is made up of 11 islands—including Dayushan, Xiaoshushan, Yin Yu, and Niao Yu—and 9 reefs, covering an area of 25 square kilometers. The island enjoys a pleasant climate and picturesque scenery. At the mountaintop, 200 meters above sea level, lies a "Heavenly Lake on the Sea" that remains perennially full of fresh, clean water.

There are also tens of thousands of acres of natural grasslands where, amidst the vast blue sea, you can experience the sweeping grassland imagery of "the wind blowing low to reveal cattle and sheep."

Dayushan Island has a diameter of about 5 kilometers and covers an area of 21.22 square kilometers. Its highest point, Hongji Cave Mountain, stands at 541.4 meters above sea level, making it the largest island in eastern Fujian. The island boasts picturesque scenery, featuring attractions such as the Colorful Heavenly Lake, Sunset over Ant-like Boats, Mysterious Patterns on Sandy Beaches, Southern Tian Shan, and Clear Skies at Land’s End.

The Heavenly Lake is located on Hongji Mountain of Dayushan Island, at an elevation of 200 meters. It consists of two lakes, large and small, surrounded by peaks that form a basin-like shape. The larger Heavenly Lake spans nearly 1,000 mu, while the smaller one covers more than 200 mu.

The large and small Heavenly Lakes are over 1,000 meters apart and each has its own spring, which provides a perennial supply of sweet, crystal-clear water. The deep blue, jade-like lake water is highly alluring. Wild turtles are often spotted around the lakes.

Taking a boat around the island along its 30.7-kilometer coastline reveals a chain of islands with jagged, uneven, and precipitous rocks that appear to connect and disconnect continuously. There are numerous uniquely shaped rock formations, including the Golden Monkey Watching the Sun, Thousand-Leaf Rock, Turtle Reef, and Stacked Rock Reef.

You can also visit Bird Island, where hundreds of birds gather. This small island covers only 0.5 square kilometers and is less than 100 meters above sea level. It is covered with dense vegetation and is home to thousands of seagulls and other migratory birds. The spectacular sight of them taking flight all at once is truly breathtaking.
