Chixi Village in Banxi Town, Fuding City, is a green village with a forest coverage rate of 90%. Located at the western foot of the national AAAAA-level scenic spot Mount Taimu, it is an emerging tourism village as well as an ecological village rich in resources such as eco-tourism, tea, bamboo, timber, freshwater aquaculture, water conservancy, and mineral deposits.

Once known as the “No. 1 National Poverty Alleviation Village,” it is now leveraging its mountainous resources to focus on “water-themed” tourism development, striving to build a new tourism-oriented village, open its mountain gates, and warmly welcome guests from all over.

Jiuli Stream: Unforgettable rafting experiences

Tourism in Chixi Village began to gain popularity in 2007. Relying on the ecological tourism resource of Jiuli Stream, it has attracted many visitors from Zhejiang and eastern Fujian, especially during holidays and weekends, making the area lively and bustling.

Rafting is a traditional activity on Jiuli Stream. The poet Du Kun of Jiuli once wrote: “Recalling the green stream’s waves, the floating bamboo rafts swift as shuttles. The stream winds, the mountains close in, where countless waters converge; rapids and jagged rocks clash and grind.” Tourists float down the stream on bamboo rafts, surrounded by green mountains and bamboo, the quiet wilderness occasionally punctuated by birdsong and the laughter of visitors. Faced with such a landscape of mountains and streams, any words feel inadequate. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and savor the unique air of Jiuli Stream—sweet and refreshing.

Tianzhou Stream: A hidden paradise with beautiful legends

Not far from the village lies another water-based attraction in Chixi—Tianzhou Stream. Stretching 7.8 kilometers, the stream boasts wide banks and densely scattered scenic spots, enhanced by numerous enchanting legends that add an air of mystery.

Tianzhou Stream is picturesque, with water, rocks, trees, and cliffs existing in harmonious interplay. Among them, the Sun-Moon Pond is tied to a beautiful love story. Legend has it that a couple, fleeing persecution by feudal forces, escaped into the deep mountains and lived together in the water, eventually transforming into the pond. The crystal-clear, cool waters of Sun-Moon Pond have never dried up in a thousand years, symbolizing the eternal love of the two. Along the banks of Tianzhou Stream also stands the majestic Seven-Tiered Waterfall, which cascades more than 200 meters down from great heights, with thunderous roars, splashing water, and a breathtaking spectacle.

The banks of Tianzhou Stream are covered with vast primeval forests, creating a unique ecological environment. The crystal-clear stream water, melodious sounds of valley springs, and cheerful birdsongs make you feel as if you’ve entered a hidden paradise, reluctant to leave.

Warriors’ Park: Where you can fully enjoy challenging yourself

The “Warriors’ Park” within Jiuli Stream is Fuding City’s first large-scale comprehensive outdoor adventure sports project. In the park, you can not only admire the beauty of nature but also enjoy the boundless thrill of extreme sports. With over ten outdoor activities designed to challenge yourself and reflect on life—including crossing rivers on swinging planks, scaling walls, crossing ravines on cables, treading on floating piles, and walking high above the ground—you’ll not only get to be a “braveheart” but also experience the power of teamwork. In 2012, the Jiuli Stream leisure tourism project was selected as one of China’s Top Sports Tourism Projects at the China Sports Tourism Expo, hosted by the General Administration of Sport of China and the China National Tourism Administration.
