The Houmenshan Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Fujian Province.

Era: Neolithic Age

Location: Pengkeng Village, QinYu Town, Fuding City

Introduction: A stone tool processing site from the late Neolithic Age. Discovered during the third national cultural relics survey in 2008, it covers an area of 50,000 square meters. A large number of cultural relics were found scattered on the ground in the soil extraction area, with cultural deposits (20–40 cm thick) located 120–150 cm below the surface. A large number of stone artifacts and colored pottery fragments were collected. The pottery fragments include clay pottery, sandy pottery, and hard pottery, among which orange-yellow pottery predominates. The collected stone artifacts include stone tool-making tools, stone blanks, flakes, and raw stone materials. The discovery of this cultural site provides physical evidence for studying the origin and relationship of prehistoric cultures between Fujian and Taiwan during the same period.

Protected Area: West to the east wall of Pengkeng Primary School, the east wall of Yangfu Shenggong Temple, and the connecting line at the foot of the high mountain to the north; south to the Pengkeng–Lengcheng cement road; east to the connecting line at the foot of the high mountain to the north, approximately 250 meters east of the east wall of Pengkeng Primary School; north to the foot of the high mountain.

In 2009, the Houmenshan Site was designated as a seventh batch provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.
