Liancheng Castle is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

Year built: Ming Dynasty

Location: Liancheng Village, Qinyu Town, Fuding City

Introduction: In the 11th year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1532), to defend against Japanese pirates, the imperial court assigned officials to supervise the construction of the castle, which was built in sections by several major local clans including the Wang, Ye, Yang, and Liu families. The castle is made of stone, with a perimeter of 1,127 meters, walls 5–6 meters high, and 4–5 meters wide. The ramparts are 1.5 meters high and 1.2 meters thick; four artillery platforms are situated around the castle, each equipped with a cannon; there are three gates—east, west, and south—and the interior includes a circular road, ancient streets, and an intricate network of waterways; surrounding the castle is a protective moat.

Protected area: An additional 10-meter buffer zone extends both inside and outside the castle.

In 2009, Liancheng Castle was designated as part of the seventh batch of Provincial-Level Cultural Relic Protection Units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.
