Xiyang Elderly Bridge

Xiyang Elderly Bridge is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Xiyang Elderly Bridge is located in Qiaotou Village, Guanyang Town, Fuding City, and dates back to the Ming and Qing dynasties.

Description: Originally built during the Ming Dynasty and renovated during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty (1662–1722). It is a single-span wooden arch covered bridge with a longitudinal orientation from east to west. The bridge is 30.4 meters long, 4.9 meters wide, with a span of 24.4 meters and a height of 7.6 meters. The bridge abutments are built of stone, and the arch is constructed with interlaced round logs forming a wooden arch, upon which wooden planks are laid horizontally to serve as the bridge deck. The bridge has 13 covered bays supported by 56 pillars, with 1–4 layers of shielding boards under the eaves on both sides. There are three shrine compartments in the middle of the bridge. Each end of the bridge has a set of four stone steps.

In 2013, Xiyang Elderly Bridge was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Protected area: Extending 20 meters outward to the east and west of the bridge ends.

Guanyang Town: Guanyang is located in the southwestern part of Fuding City, at the junction of three cities (Fuding, Zherong, and Taishun) on the Fujian-Zhejiang border. Covering an area of 197.22 square kilometers, the region features high mountainous terrain with 144 peaks of varying sizes, among which four exceed 1,000 meters in elevation — Wangfu Mountain, Litouzhi, Dongshan, and Niushijian. The highest of these is Wangfu Mountain, at an elevation of 1,113.6 meters. Most administrative villages are situated at elevations around 600 meters. The town administers 27 administrative villages and 211 natural villages, with a total population of 46,000.
