The Kong Family Temple of Xikun

The Kong Family Temple of Xikun is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The Kong Family Temple of Xikun is located in Xikun Village, Guanyang Town, Fuding City, and dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

Introduction: Originally built in the 10th year of the Shunzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1653). It faces west and consists of a main gate, front hall, theater stage, and main hall, covering an area of 663 square meters. The main gate is inscribed with “Kong Family Temple”; the front hall has three bays, and the gate tower hangs a golden vertical plaque inscribed with “Descendants of the Greatest Sage,” bestowed by Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty; the theater stage features an octagonal caisson ceiling with a pyramidal roof; the main hall has three bays and five interior columns, with a post-and-lintel and pier-and-lintel hybrid roof structure, a hip-and-gable roof, and a central shrine table enshrining a statue of Confucius.

In 2013, the Kong Family Temple of Xikun was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Protected area: An additional 20 meters extending outward from all sides of the temple.

Xikun Village: Xikun Village is located in the northwest of Fuding City, 7 kilometers from Guanyang Town, covering an area of 15 square kilometers. It includes 15 natural villages, 468 households, and a total population of 2,163. In December 2007, it was awarded the title of Third Batch of Provincial Historical and Cultural Villages by the People’s Government of Fujian Province. In June 2012, it was recognized as the Fifth Batch of Provincial Ecological Villages in Fujian. On December 17, 2012, it was listed among China’s Traditional Villages by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Finance, and in 2013, it was designated as a Demonstration Village for New Rural Construction in Fuding City.
