Jiulongtan Scenic Area is located in the core zone of Taining UNESCO Global Geopark and Taining UNESCO World Natural Heritage site. It gets its name from a spring-fed pool formed by the convergence of nine mountain streams. Covering an area of 15 square kilometers, the scenic area features a 5,000-meter-long canyon and 100 acres of water surface. It showcases the essence of “lakes, streams, mountains, valleys, cliffs, peaks, and gullies,” and is characterized by lush vegetation, crisscrossing canyons, and stunning Danxia landforms. It is especially renowned for its harmonious blend of mountains and water, tranquil valleys, and wild beauty. The area boasts over 30 attractions including Qiu Long Gorge, Qing Long Gorge, Ying Long Gorge, Human Face Rock, Endless Vitality, Gorilla Gazing at the Pool, and the Underwater Tunnel. Visitors can either take a raft to navigate through the “Thousand-Meter Heavenly Crevice on Water” or leisurely stroll along the canyon edge by the water, admiring its pristine beauty.
