Golden Gorge Starry Sky Tunnel

The Golden Gorge Starry Sky Tunnel is an artificial wonder carved through a mountain. This tunnel is located on the Jian’ning side of the border between Jian’ning County and Taining County. It is situated in a granite stone mountain, and carving a passage through such incredibly hard rock is no easy feat. Today, this tunnel not only shortens the hiking distance but also adds a stunning scenic element to Golden Gorge: the tunnel is entirely granite, forming a natural wall of relief carvings. It is a tunnel steeped in rich historical and cultural significance, as well as one that showcases the profound essence of Golden Gorge. One end connects to the long-lost historical epochs and distant legends, while the other links to the most advanced modern technology and breathtaking scenery of today. Although the shining golden gongs of the Min King are no longer seen here, the tunnel, cableway, pathways, and plank walkways are now illuminated with strings of electric lights. These lights shimmer beautifully in the hazy night, intermingling with the moonlight and starlight above—outshining the legendary glowing golden gongs.
