Songcheng Red Army Well

The Songcheng Red Army Well is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Red Army Well is located at No. 11, East Side of Lingshang Street, Hongwei Administrative Village, Songcheng Town, Taining County.

The residences along Red Army Street once housed a large number of Red Army soldiers and officers, who drew their daily water from the Ruxue Well at No. 11, East Side of Lingshang Street. To commemorate that period of history, later generations renamed the Ruxue Well as the Red Army Well.

The Ruxue Well is an ancient well dating back to the Ming Dynasty, consisting of a well platform, drainage channel, well shaft, and well curb, covering an area of 16 square meters. The well curb has a diameter of 0.80 meters and an inner diameter of 0.55 meters. The well shaft is built by stacking semi-circular blue sandstone rings, with a depth of 5 meters.

The original well platform was paved with cobblestones, but was later replaced with red flagstones, measuring 4.24 meters in length from east to west and 3.76 meters in width from north to south.

The Red Army Well remains well-preserved to this day, with clear and sweet-tasting water.

Hongwei Village: Hongwei Village is one of the administrative villages under the jurisdiction of Songcheng Town, Taining County, Sanming City. It is located southwest of the county urban area, surrounding the Lufeng Mountain Forest Park, on the north bank of the Jinxi River. It connects to Shengyi Street on the east side of Heping Middle Street to the east, links to the north bank of the Jinhu River along Minzhu Street to the south, borders Fengyan Village to the west, and leans against Lufeng Mountain to the north.
