Former Site of the Red Army Hospital at Zhanggan

The former site of the Red Army hospital at Zhanggan is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the Red Army hospital is located 30 meters south of the village committee office in Zhanggan Village, Shan Cheng Town, Taining County.

Zhanggan Village is situated to the west of Yangmei'ao, where the command post for the Dayangzhang Ambush Battle was located. At an altitude of about 1,000 meters and roughly 5 li away, setting up the Red Army hospital here met combat needs. During the Dayangzhang Ambush Battle, Red Army soldiers fought bravely, with nearly 100 soldiers injured and sent to the Zhanggan Red Army Hospital for treatment and recuperation. The villagers of Zhanggan also actively assisted in rescuing the wounded soldiers. Later on, the hospital treated many Red Army commanders and fighters injured in battles across the Taining Soviet Area. This building has been well-preserved by local villagers as a memorial to that battle.

The former site of the Red Army hospital is a late Qing Dynasty civilian residence in Zhanggan Village. It faces east and sits west, consisting of a front open space, lower hall, central courtyard, and upper hall. Both the upper and lower halls are three bays wide (12.2 meters) and five bays deep (16.69 meters), with a total construction area of 203 square meters. It features a hanging hip roof and a post-and-lintel wooden structure.

Zhanggan Village: Located in the northwest of Taining County, a UNESCO Global Geopark in Fujian Province, Zhanggan Village is 15 kilometers from the county seat. The village covers an area of 21.5 square kilometers, comprises six natural villages and 12 villager groups, and has a population of 297 households and 1,186 people.
