Former Site of Red Army Slogans in Dayuan

The Former Site of Red Army Slogans in Dayuan is a classic red tourism attraction.

The site of the Red Army slogans is located within the residences of villagers in Xiadayuan, a natural village of Dayuan Village, Xinqiao Township, Taining County.

Between June 1931 and July 1934, the Red Army frequently passed through Dayuan Village. The Political Department of the Red Army actively carried out propaganda work in the village, exposing the ugly face of the Kuomintang, calling on villagers to join the Red Army and fight against the Kuomintang army. To this day, over a dozen Red Army slogans and some revolutionary relics are preserved on villagers’ houses, at their doorways, and on surrounding walls. The slogans include messages such as “The Red Army is the Army of Workers and Peasants,” “Overthrow the Tyrants and Distribute the Land,” “Fight Bandits and Save the People,” “Down with the Bandit Kuomintang,” “Eliminate the Kuomintang Bandits Who Massacre Workers and Peasants,” “Abolish All Exorbitant Taxes and Levies,” and “Rise Up in Armed Uprising and Carry Out Land Revolution.” Due to the passage of time and erosion by wind and rain, most of the slogans have become blurred.

Dayuan Village: Overview of Dayuan Village

Dayuan Village is located in the northeastern part of Xinqiao Township, at the border between Fujian and Jiangxi, adjacent to Lichuan County in Jiangxi Province. It is eight kilometers from the township government seat. The village administers four natural villages and six villager groups, with a total population of 693. It has 1,090 mu of arable land, 14,215 mu of forested land, and 2,265 mu of ecological public welfare forest. In 2011, the per capita net income of farmers was 7,321 yuan.

Dayuan Village has a long history. Two ancestral halls in the village, belonging to the Dai and Yan families, have a history of over 280 years.
