The site of the Datian Red Army Bridge is a classic destination for red tourism.

The site of the Red Army Bridge is located in Anxia Administrative Village, Datian Township, Taining County.

During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, Datian Township was one of the fervent red zones where land reform was actively carried out in Taining County. Between February and July 1933, due to the First Front Red Army’s main forces being ordered to move westward to launch a major assault on Nanfeng, the Taining County Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the Taining County Revolutionary Committee relocated to Datian District to continue the struggle. After Taining was liberated again, a second round of land redistribution began across various districts and townships, aiming to settle accounts with local landlords and gentry, and reclaim the land that had been taken back from peasants through their counter-revolutionary actions. The enthusiasm of farmers in Datian Township for production grew even stronger, leading to good harvests in agriculture. Faced with this favorable revolutionary situation, local reactionary forces harbored intense resentment and sought opportunities to retaliate. On November 29, 1933, over 30 guerrilla fighters from Shitang, Chikeng, and other villages in Shitang District, along with Red Army soldiers, went to Jinlong Mountain to take action against local tyrants. On their way back through Anxia Village to Datian, they were suddenly ambushed by the Yuchuan Defense Corps at the bridge. More than 10 guerrilla members and 3 Red Army soldiers were killed. To commemorate these revolutionary martyrs, the local government renamed Anxia Bridge as the “Red Army Bridge.”

Originally named Anxia Bridge, the Red Army Bridge was first built during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1573–1620) and was originally a wooden structure. It was destroyed and rebuilt multiple times due to mountain floods. In the late 1990s, after being washed away by floods, it was reconstructed as a stone arch bridge, measuring 33 meters in length, 5 meters in width, and 10 meters in height.

Anxia Village: Located in Datian Township, Taining County, Anxia Village lies at 117° east longitude and 26°55′ north latitude, covering an area of 15 square kilometers. It is 39 kilometers from the Taining interchange of the Fuzhou–Yinchuan Expressway, 33 kilometers from Taining County seat, and 2 kilometers from the township government. The village has a total of 205 households and a population of 732, spread across eight natural villages: Anxia, Yankeng, Xiaoxi, Butou, Xibian, Puxiaqiao, Xiawanjiang, and Shangwanjiang. It is divided into seven villager groups. The name of the village committee was established in 1971 when a new brigade was formed. Since Anxia is centrally located within the village, it was decided that the brigade headquarters would be situated in the Anxia natural village.
