Taining County Museum

Established in 1984, the Taining County Museum is located within the Shangshu Mansion architectural complex, a national key cultural relics protection unit. The Shangshu Mansion complex is the best-preserved Ming Dynasty residential architectural complex in China's Jiangnan region, covering an area of over 13,000 square meters, and is primarily composed of two major structures: Shangshu Mansion and Shide Hall. The museum boasts a collection of more than 3,000 items and features six major permanent exhibitions: “Shangshu Mansion Academy,” “Taining Ancient City and Shangshu Mansion,” “Li Chunye and Shangshu Mansion,” “Life of the Li Family,” “Taining Festival Customs,” and “Traditional Architectural Crafts of Taining and Famous Residences in Fujian.” Through panels, models, sculptures, and audiovisual displays, these exhibitions vividly portray the legendary life of Li Chunye.

The museum has a young and highly professional team. It operates through three departments: Security, Guiding, and Archaeology, with well-organized management and clear responsibilities. Over the years, the museum has achieved notable results in cultural relics protection, public education, and tourism services, and has been recognized multiple times as a Civilized Window at both city and county levels. In 1999, it was named one of the Top Ten Outstanding Patriotic Education Bases in the province, in 2001 it was rated as a First-Class Provincial Museum in Fujian, and in 2009 it was designated as a National Third-Class Museum. With ongoing development, the museum will continue to keep pace with the times and create an even brighter future.
