Shanchong Zhaoling Palace

Shanchong Zhaoling Palace is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Shanchong Zhaoling Palace is located in Shanchong Village, Changtai County, and dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

Description: Commonly known as the Great Palace, it was originally built during the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty (1522–1566), with the existing structure being from the Qing Dynasty. Facing north and situated southward, it consists of a front hall, an inner courtyard, the main hall, and a water-passage corridor, covering a construction area of 173 square meters. The main hall is three bays wide and four pillars deep, featuring a post-and-lintel beam frame and a flush-gable roof. A related cultural relic, the Shuiwei Pagoda, is located about 150 meters to the left of Zhaoling Palace, by the banks of Tzaixi Creek, also known as Tzaipagoda. It is built from pebble stones, has a cone-shaped, seven-tiered stepped solid structure, stands 8.45 meters tall, with a base diameter of 14 meters and a top diameter of 1.5 meters. The pagoda finial is topped with an octahedral stone pillar and a round stone cap.

In 2013, Shanchong Zhaoling Palace was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Protected area: An additional 20 meters of land extending outward from the perimeter of both the palace and the pagoda.
