Ox Market Mound

Located to the west of Niujizhen in Qiaocheng District, Bozhou City, this is a settlement site dating from the Neolithic Age to the Shang Dynasty. A temple dedicated to Li Si was originally built on the mound, hence it is also known as Li Si Mound. It is a high earthen hill, approximately 3 meters tall with an area of 14,000 square meters. It is now a key cultural relic protection unit of Bozhou City.

Beneath the mound lies a deposit layer several meters thick. From the winter of 1961 to the summer of 1975, the provincial and county museums conducted two trial excavations. Artifacts unearthed include bone tools, stone tools, pottery, and shell artifacts. The upper layer of the site belongs to the Shang culture stratum, while the lower layer belongs to the Longshan culture stratum. It is a precious relic for exploring ancient history and human development.

Niujizhen: Niujizhen is located at the border between Henan and Anhui provinces and is an important agricultural town in the northwest of Qiaocheng District. It is about 20 kilometers from the city center, with a total population of 67,800 and a total area of 96.59 square kilometers, including 86,000 mu of arable land. Originally consisting of 31 administrative villages, these were consolidated into 15 villages in May of this year, covering 164 natural villages. Niujizhen was established in March of this year through the integration of the former Anliu and Niujizhen towns. Comrade Yang Xianzhong serves as the town head; Comrade Song Kai serves as the deputy town party committee secretary and town mayor; Comrade Liu Chuanjiu serves as the deputy town party committee secretary and discipline inspection commission secretary.
