City Mosque

The City Mosque is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Anhui Province.

The City Mosque is located at No. 15, Qingzhen Street, Huaxilou Subdistrict, Qiaocheng District, Bozhou City, Anhui Province.

The mosque was first built in the fourth year of the Yuanyou era of the Yuan Dynasty (1317), when its main structure, the Imageless Treasure Hall (prayer hall), had 81 rooms. The current structures were built in the late Qing Dynasty. Facing east and backed by west, they are made of gray bricks and tiles, and feature a distinctive ethnic architectural style. The existing main gate consists of three bays, the waist hall has three bays, and the Imageless Treasure Hall is also preserved. These three structures are aligned along the same central axis, naturally forming a two-courtyard layout. Within the front courtyard, there is one cross-courtyard on the south side and one on the north side. The nine-room southern cross-courtyard serves as the Women’s Mosque, while the nine-room northern cross-courtyard houses the living quarters for the imam and religious students. It is a municipal-level protected heritage site in Anhui Province.
