Chengfu Ruins

The Chengfu Ruins are a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

The Chengfu Ruins cover an area of 5,200 square meters, surrounded by water on the east, west, and north sides, and bordered by a township-level road to the south. In 637 BC, the State of Chu attacked the State of Chen and captured the city of Yi (Chengfu). In 530 BC, King Ling of Chu led his army in a campaign against the State of Xu, stationed troops at Qianxi (within Gaobo), and built the Zhanghua Terrace for his enjoyment. Later generations constructed the Temple of King Ling on the terrace, and the Zhanghua Terrace is also known as the King Ling Terrace. The State of Chu ruled the Bozhou area for several hundred years, leaving behind numerous historical relics. Notable sites include Wanghua Terrace, Zhanghua Terrace, and the ancient city ruins of Chengfu. Chengfu has yielded numerous ant nose coins in archaeological digs, and even knife coins, providing valuable physical evidence for the study of Chu culture. As the only historical and cultural town in Bozhou City, Chengfu Town is leveraging its rich cultural heritage to develop a humanities-themed tourism destination in northern Anhui.

Chengfu Town: Located on the southeastern edge of Qiaocheng District, Bozhou City, Chengfu Town is about 33 kilometers from the urban center. It borders the Zhang River to the south, nestles along the Wu River to the north, lies close to the Beijing-Kowloon Railway, and is adjacent to the Shangfu Expressway to the west. Provincial Highway 307 runs through the town, making both land and water transportation highly convenient. Historically known as “Yi,” Chengfu Town served as the “secondary capital” of the Chu kings during the Spring and Autumn period. It was the hometown of the famous Spring and Autumn general Wu Zixu and the Western Han military strategist Zhang Liang, making it a millennia-old historic and cultural town. The town currently has over ten provincial- and municipal-level cultural relic protection units, including the Qingfeng Ridge primitive tribal settlement, the Sinv Gudui ancient tomb cluster, the Wuyuan Village Fort, the Zhanghua Terrace, the Daithai Temple, the Wanghua Terrace, and the Tieying ancient relics… Chengfu Town detailed information++
