Ruins of the Mingwang Platform

The ruins of the Mingwang Platform are a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

The ruins of the Mingwang Platform are located within the Tongzhen Taoist Temple on the north side of Huajing Cliff along Dayou Street in Qiaocheng District, Bozhou City.

This was the palace site where Xiaomingwang Han Lin'er, leader of the late Yuan Dynasty peasant uprising, proclaimed himself emperor and ascended the throne—hence the name Mingwang Platform. The site was designated as a provincial-level key cultural relic protection unit in September 1981.

In February 1355 (the 15th year of the Zhizheng era), Liu Futong welcomed Han Lin'er from Jihe in Dangshan to Bozhou, where he was enthroned as "Xiaomingwang." His mother, Lady Yang, was honored as Empress Dowager. The regime was named the "Great Song," and the era title was established as "Longfeng," with Bozhou designated as the "capital." Rebel forces dismantled construction materials from Bozhou’s Taiqing Palace to build the palatial complex of the Great Song regime. Palaces and audience halls were erected at the Tongzhen Taoist Temple in Beiguan, where the enthronement ceremony took place. The Bozhou Annals of the Guangxu Reign of the Qing Dynasty, under the section “Military Affairs,” recorded: “In February of the 15th year of the Zhizheng era, Liu Futong of Yingzhou welcomed Han Lin'er from Jihe in Dangshan. He was proclaimed emperor, titled ‘Xiaomingwang,’ with Bozhou as the capital and the state named ‘Song.’ The era title was changed to ‘Longfeng.’ Construction materials from the Taiqing Palace were used to build the palace complex. In December, Bozhou was besieged, and Liu Futong fled with Han Lin'er to Anfeng.” Later, the palace structures were destroyed, but the platform foundation remains.

The existing Mingwang Platform is bordered by Yabakeng on the north and west sides, situated at a high elevation with a prominent raised terrain, covering an area of 180 square meters.
