Bozhou Fishing Terrace Site

The Bozhou Fishing Terrace Site is a cultural relics protection unit of Anhui Province.

The Fishing Terrace Site is located in Fishing Terrace Village, southeast of Qiaocheng District, Bozhou City.

The site is situated on the north bank of the Guo River, approximately 2.5 meters higher than the surrounding area, with a platform area of 2,500 square meters, and is an ancient settlement site. In September 1981, it was announced as a Provincial Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the People's Government of Anhui Province. In 1955, the Preparatory Office of the Anhui Provincial Museum conducted a small-scale trial excavation at the Fishing Terrace Site. Through the excavation and collection, artifacts such as stone axes, stone knives, stone adzes, bone needles, pottery li tripods, and pottery spinning wheels were obtained. The Fishing Terrace Site boasts rich cultural content, especially the carbonized wheat stored in the pottery li tripods, which is extremely precious and has been named “Ancient Chinese Wheat” by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and related institutions. The Fishing Terrace Site belongs to the Dawenkou Culture period.
