The Remains of Sanhe City Wall

Built in September 1855 (the fifth year of the Xianfeng reign in the Qing Dynasty) by the Taiping Army. The original city wall was approximately 500 meters long from east to west and about 250 meters wide from north to south, with a height of 7 meters. Today, four sections of the wall remain. One of the better-preserved sections is at the Xiangu Building on Middle Street, which stands about 4 meters high, is 15 meters long, and 1.5 meters wide. The wall base consists of bluestone slabs, and the wall itself is built from old bricks and stones. The other remaining sections include the rear wall base of Sanhe No. 2 Middle School, the riverside corner along Tongshan Hall Lane, and the office building of the former Town Supply and Marketing Cooperative.
