The Cai Yongxiang Memorial Hall is a classic red tourism site.

The Cai Yongxiang Memorial Hall is situated at the foot of the scenic Sitingshan Mountain, in Dacai Village, the hometown of Cai Yongxiang. Constructed in 1966, it is a single-story brick-and-tile building with 14 rooms, covering a construction area of 237.5 square meters. Owing to long-term neglect and absence of proper care, some walls have developed cracks, roof tiles have come off, and doors and windows have decayed, making it a dangerous building. This salvage restoration will invest 400,000 yuan to rebuild the structure in the style of the original hall. The main works include roof renovation, wall repairs, door and window replacement, as well as road, square, stairway, perimeter wall, and drainage system upgrades. The entire renovation project is scheduled to be completed by mid-September. It will officially open to the public on October 1.

It is reported that after the restoration, the cultural authorities will take the lead in replicating information about Cai Yongxiang’s life from his former military unit in Hangzhou, and then rearrange the exhibits in the memorial hall. Additionally, full-time management and tour guide staff will be assigned, and the facility will be incorporated into the county-level public institution funding system.

Cai Yongxiang (1948–1966) was from Dacai Village, Hubin Township. He started school at Heishi Primary School at the age of 8, often arriving early to clean the campus and classrooms, and was a diligent student. In 1964, when the Party issued the call to “Learn from Comrade Lei Feng,” Cai Yongxiang responded enthusiastically, often helping his elderly, childless neighbors by sweeping, carrying water, and tending their private plots. One winter night, while passing by the Dingshuitang Reservoir, he noticed a leak in the reservoir’s culvert.
