Teapot Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument

The Teapot Mountain Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

Within Sidingshan Scenic Area stands Teapot Mountain, named for its main peak that resembles an upside-down teapot. Though the mountain is no more than a hundred meters high, it stands out due to the monument at its base, beneath which rest 50 revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their lives half a century ago. These martyrs came from 14 provinces and cities across China, most of whom were injured in the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Liberation War, or the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and later succumbed to their injuries despite treatment at the field hospital that was located here at the time. In 1951, our province decided to establish the First Rehabilitation Hospital to treat wounded soldiers from the War of Resistance, the Liberation War, and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. As the country had just been founded, it was difficult to build a large hospital in a short period, so the relevant authorities chose the ancient residences of Liujiafan. From 1951 to 1956, over 1,000 injured soldiers received treatment here. More than 50 of them died after treatment proved ineffective. Over 10 martyrs, too severely injured to communicate, were unable to provide their home provinces or names. The local government erected a monument at the foot of Teapot Mountain in their honor. Standing 8 meters tall, the marble tombstone bears the inscription: “Eternal glory to the martyrs who fought bravely for the revolutionary cause of the Chinese people during the War of Resistance Against Japan, the Liberation War, and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, who were wounded in battle, and who sacrificed their lives after unsuccessful treatment at the rehabilitation hospital!” The monument details the names and hometowns of 40 martyrs and the regional distribution of more than 10 unnamed martyrs. The home provinces of some martyrs are listed using pre-liberation names such as Jehol Province and Songjiang Province.

Historical research shows that water from the northern foothills of Qingyang Mountain flowed continuously into Chaohu Lake via Changning Temple, eventually forming the Changning River. The area took its name from the river, and as it is situated near Chaohu Lake, it was later renamed Changlinhe.

Located at the southernmost tip of Feidong County, Changlinhe Town borders Chaohu Lake and neighbors Binhu. Covering a total area of 100 square kilometers, it governs 18 villages and 2 communities, with a population of 52,000. Blessed with talented people and a beautiful landscape, and enjoying a superior geographical location, the town is traversed by the provincial-level tourist highway — Dianzhong Road. The Chaohu Lakeside Expressway within the territory has officially opened to traffic, and the under-construction Hefei... Changlinhe Town detailed information++
