Dachen Dun Site

The Dachen Dun Site is a cultural tourism attraction.

Introduction The Dachen Dun Site, also known as "Dachen Gudu," is located in Cang Village, Longcheng Township, Feidong County. It is a Neolithic to Shang-Zhou period site in the Jianghuai region, covering a total area of 4,000 square meters. The mound forms three terraces, with the top level measuring 43 meters in length and 20 meters in width. The height difference between the first and second levels is 2.5 meters, with a steep slope of about 75 degrees, while the third level has a gentle slope. Investigations have revealed compacted rice grains in the red burned soil on the western slope of the mound, which is among the earliest such discoveries in China. Apart from the heavily disturbed topsoil layer of 30–40 centimeters, the site remains well-preserved down to a depth of 4–4.2 meters. Artifacts collected at the site include stone axes, copper smelting slag, pottery paddles, and fragmented pottery pieces. It is a provincially designated key cultural relics protection unit.
