Zaolin Bay Ruins

The Zaolin Bay Ruins are a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Anhui Province.

The Zaolin Bay Ruins are located at the border between Xiangyu Village and Tongxin Village, Hezhen Township, Dongzhi County, Anhui Province.

They are a Neolithic site. Zaolin Bay, also known as Shenshantou, was discovered in July 1983 during a county-wide cultural relics survey. It stretches 350 meters from east to west and 35 meters from north to south, covering an area of 12,250 square meters. The western part is hilly, while the eastern, southern, and northern sides are surrounded by fields (formerly marshland), with the surface farming layer exposing a large number of artifacts such as stone axes, stone hoes, red pottery tripod feet mixed with sand, plain red pottery tripod feet mixed with sand, and red-fired earth blocks. It is the earliest and most intact ancient site discovered in the county.

Protected area: bounded by the mountain-foot road and fields to the north, the Xiangyu Grain Station and highway to the northwest, the main road of the natural village of Zaolin Bay in Tongxin Village to the southwest, the villagers' residences at the mountain foot to the southeast, and the paddy fields at the mountain foot to the east.

Construction control zone: 20 meters beyond the protected area on the east, south, west, and north sides.
