Dongzhi Jin Family Ancestral Hall

The Dongzhi Jin Family Ancestral Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

The Jin Family Ancestral Hall is located in Jinjia Village, Huayuanli Township, Dongzhi County.

It is a Han Chinese ancestral hall building originally built during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty, serving as a place for the Han people to worship their ancestors and revered figures. Its full name is the "Nanxi Jin Family Grand Ancestral Hall." It was established by twenty local leaders headed by Jin Hebi, who were "diligent and prudent, collecting funds and setting regulations" to accomplish this grand undertaking. The hall has three courtyards and a large wooden framework that combines raised beams and through-tenons, covering a construction area of 981 square meters. It has a total of 88 main pillars (excluding bracket arms), with the largest pillar having a circumference of 1.7 meters, a height of 9.1 meters, and the largest base stone having a circumference of 2.65 meters. The central bay of the middle courtyard has a width of 6 meters, with the side bays gradually narrowing. The beams, openwork panels, side corridors, spandrels, and base stones are exquisitely crafted (including carvings), demonstrating fine details. The overall composition is majestic, reflecting the outstanding craftsmanship and artistic creativity of the ancient Han Chinese laboring people.

Protected area: east to the road, south to the ditch, 20 meters to the west and north respectively.

Construction control zone: outside the protected area, east and south follow the protected area boundary, north to the road, west to the riverside flagstone path.
