The new building of Chizhou Cultural Center is located at No. 77 Qiupu East Road in the city and opened to the public on August 28, 2013. As a public welfare cultural institution established by the municipal government, the Chizhou Cultural Center is a public cultural venue open to the general public, providing cultural services to the community. It undertakes the government’s public cultural initiatives and plays a leading role in promoting the cultural life of our city. It is under the administration of the Chizhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, News and Publishing. The interior facilities include tutorial and training classrooms, rehearsal halls, exhibition rooms, chess and card rooms, a multi-functional lecture hall, a transmission institute for the national intangible cultural heritage project—Chizhou Nuo Opera—as well as a performance stage. Outdoor amenities consist of a cultural activity square. The main services provided by the center are: 1) Basic public cultural and artistic tutoring and training, such as dance, vocal music, and instrumental music; 2) Hosting lectures and presentations in collaboration with government agencies, enterprises, public institutions, social organizations, and other departments, such as science education and health and lifestyle topics; 3) Public welfare and community-based art exhibitions featuring works of fine arts, calligraphy, and photography; 4) Exhibitions showcasing intangible cultural heritage; 5) Square cultural activities; 6) Providing guidance and tutoring for grassroots community cultural activities. The center primarily undertakes and co-organizes various public cultural projects and activities assigned by the government and relevant departments. It also guides and supports the work of grassroots cultural centers (stations) across the city, as well as the popularization and improvement of social and cultural activities. It organizes and hosts citywide mass cultural and artistic events covering music, dance, drama, folk art, fine arts, photography, calligraphy, and more. Various types of mass and professional art performances, competitions, exhibitions, social art training, and grading exams are held here. The center also organizes and tutors mass art creation, conducts research and theoretical studies on public culture, collects, organizes, studies, and develops outstanding traditional ethnic and folk culture, and engages in the excavation, protection, and inheritance of folk cultural heritage.
